An Award and a Long Awaited Haircut

Before anything else, have you checked out my Blogaversary giveaway yet? I’m giving away a couple of awesome SIGNED books. Check it out HERE.

Last Saturday, May 5, 2012, new bloggy friend M.J. Joachim shared her very first blog award with me.

Thanks, M.J.!

I’m supposed to write 10 Little known facts about myself. You can read the list in my About Me page.

I’m sharing this award with my some bloggy friends:

Damyanti at Writing on Writing

Jenn at Jenn’s Scribbles

Theresa at Theresa’s Tales

Lydia at The Word is My Oyster

Ann at Inkpots n’ Quills

Susan at Susan Oloier, Author

Crystal at Crystal Collier

Sharon at Random Thoughts

Robyn at Putting Pen to Paper

Jay Noel at Jay

Beck Doughty at Braveheart

And in other news—

After two years of growing my hair, I finally got a haircut last May 2nd!

And it’s a haircut for a good cause, too. My long ponytail is going to Locks of Love a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under age 21 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis.

Long hair

So long, hair!

Not so long hair :)

This is my 2nd time donating to them, and though I look like a little boy now—it feels great to finally get a haircut after two years.  I get to help some kids and I also get to wear my hair short for the coming summer months.

With my hair short, I’ve certainly cut down the time I prepare for work each day–and I’m able to move with more ease. This’ll be a great advantage when I take my belt test this month.

Have any of you ever donated your hair?

Special thanks to Lena and Maiko for taking pictures.

Hi Nutschell .. you look great – now that would have been the hair to have had when you visited the UK last year!! Great charity too – so pleased you’ve done it. If had sufficient hair to give anyone (ever in my life) .. I would have joined you .. sadly no!!

Cheers and have a great weekend … Hilary

  2. Wow, your hair was long! And from the bob you went even shorter. Brave you! It’s going to be nice and easy for you this summer.

Nice of you to help a good cause. : )

  3. That is quite a change! Does your head feel lighter now?

  4. a.eye says:

Cute cut!! Short hair is a lot easier for me. Glad you donated the hair for a good cause, too.

  5. Erin says:

That’s quite a cut. I’ve cut my hair off before, but never donated it because I was told they only wanted natural hair — nothing dyed.

Love short hair! So much easier.

  6. Tonja says:

That’s awesome that you donated your hair. I like shorter hair for summer too.

  7. Adorable short hair! And congrats on your award. :)

  8. Thanks for the award, Nutschell!

  9. So the famous nutschell finally reveals herself! Awesome that you are making a sacrifice to benefit others!

  10. Teresa C says:

That is so awesome, giving your hair away. I use to wear my hair very long and it was a lot of trouble. But, there wasn’t an organization then to use the hair in that way.

    You’re awesome!

  11. Hi Nutschell:)

  18. Nut – THANK YOU for the AWARD! My very first – and I’m thrilled that it came from you.

I cut my hair off for donation years ago – maybe it’s time to consider doing it again. You are an inspiration!

I’ve never done the Locks of Love because my hair is unfortunately too thin and fragile to grow long enough. My sister’s done it a couple of times though. It’s a great cause.

    Congrats on your blog award.

  21. Way to donate! And now I’m aching to try some of your leche flan.=) I’m also curious as to your favorite types of musica. (I dabble there too…)
